Announcing Our New Trust & Society Academic Network Leader

Announcing Our New Trust & Society Academic Network Leader

Dr. Armel Otabela holds a PhD in Biblical Theology from KU Leuven, where he is also a collaborating visiting Professor. Since September 2025, Dr. Otabela has been working as a researcher within Trust & Society – The Global Network and since June 2026, we welcome him as the new Academic Network Leader. As part of the academic partnership with Université Catholique d’Afrique Centrale (UCAC), Dr. Otabela has been appointed institutional focal point, facilitating coordination between the two institutions. In this capacity, he has also been named Associate Lecturer at UCAC.

The scientific cooperation established through this partnership is structured around three major areas. First, a research laboratory dedicated to developing a theology of trust brings together scholars from the LSRS and UCAC, with the prospect of an international conference to be held in Yaoundé in November 2026. Second, the collaboration led to the organization of a doctoral seminar in Yaoundé in February 2026, devoted to a transdisciplinary approach to the theology of trust under the direction of the Director of the LSRS. Third, the signing of a framework agreement between the two institutions following the seminar formally and legally consolidates this partnership.

This cooperation reflects a shared commitment to promoting innovative theological research grounded in international and interdisciplinary dialogue. We wish to formally welcome Dr. Otabela to this new role and look forward to his continued successful endeavors with Trust & Society.
