Prof. dr. P.J.J. van Geest is a Distinguished Professor Tilburg University; a Full Professor of Economy and Theological Thought (Erasmus University Rotterdam) and a Full Professor of Early and Medieval Church History and History of Theology (Tilburg University).
He has been a full-time professor of church history and history of theology at Tilburg University since 2007 and a part-time professor of Theology and Economic Thought at Erasmus University Rotterdam since 2018. His research focuses on the work of Augustine, the interaction between theology and spirituality in the Late Middle Ages and the interfaces between the views of man that have been developed in economics and theology.
Van Geest is, among other things, ordinary of the Pontificia Academia Theologica in Rome, an advisory body to the pope; member of the Humanities Divisional Board of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW); the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW); the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns (Fakulteit Kuns en Geesteswetenskappe); and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Class VII. "Weltreligionen").
