Georg Rubel studied Philosophy, Psychology and Catholic Theology at Bamberg, Eichstätt and Rome. He obtained a doctorate in New Testament exegesis at Eichstätt in 2008 (title of the dissertation: “Erkenntnis und Bekenntnis. Der Dialog als Weg der Wissensvermittlung im Johannesevangelium (NTA.NF 54), Aschendorff, Münster 2009) followed by his habilitation in 2014 (title of the habilitation: “Paulus und Rom. Historische, rezeptionsgeschichtliche und archäologische Aspekte zum letzten Lebensabschnitt des Völkerapostels (NTA.NF 57), Aschendorff, Münster 2014). 

After serving as a research associate at the New Testament chair in Eichstätt, he has been a professor of biblical theology since 2016. He is currently teaching New Testament at the Grand Séminaire Luxembourg. His research focus is the Gospel of Mark. After publishing some articles over the last five years, he is now finishing his commentary on the ancient gospel. Besides that, he is working on the Theology of Mission and will in the future publish a biblical theology of mission.
